Sustainable Environmental Education, Inc. (SEE)
Mission Statement & Organizational Narrative

Mission Statement
Sustainable Environmental Education, Inc. (SEE) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to advancing healthy, equitable, and resilient communities by expanding access to environmental education, sustainable practices, and community-based learning. Through education, outreach, advocacy, and collaborative partnerships, SEE empowers individuals and families—particularly those in historically underserved communities—to improve their health, strengthen neighborhood resilience, and create lasting environmental change.

Organizational Narrative
Sustainable Environmental Education, Inc. (SEE) believes that healthy communities begin with equitable access to education, healthy environments, and opportunities to thrive. As a trusted public media and community education organization, SEE connects people with practical, science-based resources that promote environmental stewardship while improving individual and community well-being.

SEE removes barriers to environmental education by providing free, accessible programming through broadcast television, digital media, community workshops, and hands-on learning experiences. Our programs equip youth, families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities with the knowledge and skills to grow healthy food, conserve water, create sustainable landscapes, and strengthen neighborhood resilience in the face of environmental and public health challenges.
Funding will expand free educational programming that increases access to health-promoting environmental resources for underserved communities. By integrating environmental education with community wellness, SEE helps reduce disparities in access to nutritious food, green spaces, and sustainable practices that support healthier lives.

Our signature programs includes, but is not limited to:
  • Project Youth Grow – A school-based environmental education initiative that engages students in hands-on learning through school gardens, food growing, water conservation, and sustainability projects. The program builds leadership, environmental literacy, and healthy lifestyle habits while connecting classroom learning to real-world community impact.
  • SEE My Garden Grow – An inclusive therapeutic gardening and environmental education program designed for individuals with autism, cognitive and developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, mobility challenges, seniors, and other underserved populations. The program promotes physical health, mental well-being, social connection, and independence through accessible gardening experiences and adaptive learning environments.

Through these initiatives, SEE advances environmental justice, promotes community health, and creates opportunities for all residents—regardless of income, ability, or background—to live in healthier, more resilient communities. Our work reflects the belief that equitable access to environmental education and healthy spaces is essential to achieving lasting health outcomes and stronger communities.
