We can also simulcast to your channels on any day in any timeslot.
Short Form Programming. We are masters at short form programming that can be inserted into our long-form TV or are aired strictly online. Features are up to 5-minutes long.
If you’d like to have your facility shown in our TV show and used as a backdrop for our TV segments then give us a call at (562)945-6469 and ask Pam to send a TV segment scout to see if your property is a good match.
You are reading this because you’ve been invited to have us come to your location to allow us to use it as a backdrop for our production or we will be filming for your company. The following is a short explanation.

FAQ’s
Question: How many people come out?
Answer: We come out with a skeleton crew, are stealth and low key. Most people don’t know we are even there! Typically we film using a one-camera shoot but can use up to three or more, including a drone. Depending on details of the shoot we bring 2-3 people and if you can have someone there on your staff to help us hold our start/stop clock (an extremely important function) it will save us a ton of time and we will finish quicker.
Question: What kind of vehicles do you bring?
Answer: If we are bringing the props we'll be pulling a utility trailer behind the car or a pickup truck will bring everything. Sometimes we bring a news van (which may or may not have graphics on it), other times we don’t. Usually no more than 2-4 vehicles. We don't want to bring attention to what we are doing through our vehicles, only through the TV show.
Question: Do I need to supply anything?
Answer: It depends. For the most part we are a self-contained unit. If it’s for a Things Green only production we bring all the props needed for each segment (chairs, tables – everything).
If we are filming an interview format with you or someone on your team you will need to provide all the props for the TV show. MORE IS BETTER. TV IS VISUAL. PREPARE TOO MUCH even if we never use it. We want examples and samples. Show us how to do something. This isn't a talking head show, it's about engaging the viewer.
Whatever way we film nobody will turn you down for a water, soda, coffee, tea or point out where the bathrooms are. Lunch is a nice gesture for the crew but due to Nick’s dietary restrictions he always brings his own.

Question: How long will you be here?
Answer: It all depends if we are filming for the TV show or short-form segments. On the safe side, figure 8AM-5PM (not typical, it's usually less). In our world it’s a matter of hurry-up and wait as it takes time to factor in lighting, traffic, setting up the shot, talking over what is going to take place, etc.
Question: Do you need filming permit?
Answer: We have never had to secure permits for anything we have done. Typically we are exempt from all City, County and State filming permits because we film for not-for-profit programming for PBS television. Should permits or any other fees become necessary they are the responsibility of the location and/or sponsor to secure.
Question: What is your filming format?
Short form vignettes, up to 5-minutes long, filmed once with rarely a retake. We will film anywhere between 6-10 segments or more while on the property which is the backdrop for the segment.
We film Things Green in two distinct styles: (1)straight through and (2) in segments.
The straight through version is exactly what it sounds like. We start and finish in 23-minutes 30-seconds. We start from point A and work our way down. In this fashion we want to tell a story. You are the expert in this field and Nick will lead you through the conversation. The idea isn’t to ask you trick questions but to play to your strengths. Be prepared to film this twice.
Segments can be broken down as follows and may be filmed twice:
6-minutes - introduction
:90 seconds - tip
6-minutes - hands on aspect
:90 seconds - tip
6-minutes - final segment
2-minutes, 30-seconds - extended tip
The segments don't have to parlay into each other. We like to start a segment then finish it. The tips are exactly that - a tip. Some kind of short nugget the viewer can walk away with.
Keep in mind once we come we'll most likely change things around. TV is visual. Even if it never gets in the final cut...more is better. What we do is about education, not pitching a product.
If you need to setup a table for show and tell or want to walk into an area that you'd like to showcase - we're game for that, too.
Regardless of the style of filming we do, keep in mind we will need to do everything twice. Therefore, if we are planting, cutting or cooking something then you'll need to have at least two of everything.
