Bog Gardens

Do you have an area in your yard that simply won’t drain, stays wet and mushy plus doesn’t get a lot of sun?  Hey that’s great.  Have I an idea for you.
If you’re smacking yourself in the head with wet spaghetti every time you see that area in the landscape which has poor drainage and never gets enough sun, well, you can stop it right now by working with what you have and creating your own bog.

Bog gardens need the worst conditions you can imagine.  If the area dries up in summertime, add water!  Bog gardens have plants that can be found growing in and around ponds, lakes and well, bogs.

Marsh marigolds, water irises and carnivorous plants make the perfect setting for a bog garden.  Add a couple of rocks here and there and you’ve now created your own ecosystem.

If you don’t have perfect bog growing conditions you can create your own by digging out an area two feet down, line with plastic, backfill and your off.
