Mistletoe

Do you really want to get caught kissing under mistletoe. If you get all warm and fuzzy while waiting to get smooched under mistletoe you may want to reevaluate your thoughts.  Mistletoe is a parasitic plant that sucks sap from a broad leafed tree.
Where winters aren't severe mistletoe latches itself on the northern part of a tree and will grow to about 3 feet in diameter.

From the earliest times, mistletoe was regarded as a bestower of life and fertility - so make sure it's only smooching your doing under it.

The common mistletoe is one of the most magical plants of European folklore.  Mistletoe of the sacred oak was especially utilized by the ancient Celtic Druids. Julius Caesar's writings  adds to the mystery of the folklore surrounding the plant.

Decorating the house with mistletoe  may be a survival of the old Druid cult.  The custom is also associated with certain primitive marriage rites.
