Aloe Vera

If you’ve ever gotten burned, other than in a relationship, there’s a plant that can help you out.  I’m Nick Federoff with today’s Things Green Garden Minute but first...
Aloe vera is a very unattractive cactus or perky dracaena looking plant that has its place either in the landscape, under a patio or indoors.

You see, the sap of the aloe vera plant, which is pungent, soothes minor burns you can get from cooking in the kitchen or basking in the sun.

There are a couple of ways to harvest the gooey substance that can ease burn pains.  For immediate burns, cut a leaf off as close to the base as possible then rub the cut part on the burn.

For sunburns, cut a leaf off as close the base as possible. Now, scar the upper surface of the leaf with a knife then with a spoon scoop out gelatinous sap and apply to the sunburn.

Make certain you don’t get the sap on clothes otherwise they’ll get stained yellow.
