Found in rain forests this is actually a tree. It's one of some 2000 species whose flowers (they're actually bracts - kind of like poinsettia flowers) resemble lips. The bracts will eventually open up distorting the 'lips' to show off a flower which is considered NHI (not horticulturally important).
The plant is slowing becoming extinct due to deforestation. However, you can still find seeds but you'll have to do some homework to find them. The leaves are large to capture humidity that you'll have to create by misting. Or, you can place decorative rocks at the base of the plant which will also aid in creating humidity. Use a rich well draining soil and keep it moist but not wet. Afternoon sun is a no-no but morning sun is fine.
Keep your visions of Megan Fox, Sophia Loren and Hot Lips Houlihan out of your head as these species of plants have been known to be toxic - just like some of your past relationships.
